An interactive whiteboard is a large interactive display connected to a projector and a computer. The desktop of the computer is projected onto the surface of the interactive display, and is manipulated by either a dry erase pen, finger, stylus, or other device. The board can be mounted to a stand to be portable or permanent on the wall. Interactive whiteboards can be effective tools in the classroom where lessons can be designed with its accompanying software. Some interactive whiteboards have the technology available to have response systems for students to respond within the lessons.

Smartboard
The key to using a Smartboard is running its software, Notebook. Notebook takes a page from presentation type programs where slides are created. In the slides, the user can draw, type, insert pictures and flash videos. Smart Technologies has ready made things for teachers to use to create their own questions and problems for students as well.
